Architecture

DFBA develops, maintains and manages strategic architecture models, information and data that describe the current and future DoW Forensics and Biometrics operational landscape and its intergovernmental, interagency and international relationships.

Core Objectives

  • Facilitate Interoperability:

Standardize data definitions, naming conventions, and business rules across the enterprise. Describe and model the enterprise capabilities necessary to enable an interoperable and agile enterprise.
  • Coordinate and Collaborate Architecture:

Establish, facilitate and manage a chartered architecture working group consisting of Forensics and Biometrics stakeholders across DOW and U.S. Government agencies. This is the Forensics and Biometrics Enterprise Architecture Working Group (FBEAWG).
  • Identify Capability Gaps:

Analyze strategic and operational-level architectural artifacts of the DoW Forensics and Biometrics Enterprise to assist in identification of any capability gaps satisfying requirements and/or mission needs.
  • Improve Effectiveness:

Develop models and diagrams to understand complex processes utilized across the DOW Forensics and Biometrics Enterprise; such as the development of information sharing arrangements, sufficiency assessment of capabilities meeting requirements, and support to screening/vetting for National Security Threat Actors (NSTAs).

Intent

The Architecture Branch (ARB) manages the strategic and operational-level architectural artifacts of the DOW Forensics and Biometrics enterprise to provide the Executive Agent (EA) a blueprint and framework for aligning operations strategy, IT capabilities, and technology investments in accordance with DoWD 8521.01E and DoWD 5205.15E.
